Ciplox is an antibiotic eye drop that contains ciprofloxacin as its active component. They are classified as 'fluoroquinolone' antibiotics. To destroy the bacteria that cause eye infections, you'll normally use one or two drops, four times each day.
Ciplox can be used to treat a variety of bacterial eye infections, including conjunctivitis (pink eye) and an infected corneal ulcer.
Fluoroquinolone antibiotics like Ciloxan focus on blocking two essential enzymes found in the bacteria responsible for infections: bacterial topoisomerase IV and topoisomerase II.
These enzymes play a crucial role in the bacteria's ability to divide and create new cells. By interfering with these enzymes, the medication limits the spread of the infection, eradicates the bacteria, and resolves the infection.
Ciplox contains 0.3% weight per volume of the active component ciprofloxacin and is used to treat bacterial infections of the eye and the ear.
This equates to around 3 milligrammes per ml of solution. To treat bacterial eye infections, your doctor will usually recommend taking one or two drops four times a day.

Ciplox eye drop use varies depending on what’s causing your symptoms.
In the case of other eye infections, such as bacterial conjunctivitis:
Instructions for using Ciloxan eye drops are as follows:
The number of days you’ll have to use Ciplox will depend on the type of infection being treated. Typically, for most bacterial eye infections, Ciplox is administered for a span of one to two weeks. After the initial dose, the medication starts its action quickly, and noticeable symptoms improve within a couple of days.
While some people may experience complete symptom relief within three days, it's crucial to follow your doctor's prescribed duration when using Ciplox.
If you happen to miss a dose, it's not a problem—simply take the next dose at the scheduled time. Avoid applying a double dose to make up for the missed one.
Using more Ciplox than prescribed is unlikely to result in any serious side effects. Rinse any excess medication out of your eye with lukewarm water if you do accidentally dispense more than the recommended amount of drops.
