Ciplox contains ciprofloxacin. It is an antibiotic that is classified as fluoroquinolone and treats diverse bacterial infections by stopping bacterial growth, ultimately killing them.
Ciplox 500 is particularly effective against a specific group of harmful bacteria known as "gram-negative bacilli", which are responsible for gastrointestinal infections that can cause acute diarrhea. These include bacteria like e. coli, salmonella, shigella, and neisseria.
Ciplox 500 contains ciprofloxacin, an antibiotic that interferes with the infection causing bacteria’s ability to multiply. It focuses on enzymes within the bacteria that manage separation of their DNA strands.
By blocking these enzymes, Ciplox 500 stops DNA replication, slowing the growth and reproduction of the bacteria. Eventually, ciprofloxacin weakens the infection by helping the body's immune system in killing the bacteria that’s causing diarrhea.
Ciplox contains ciprofloxacin as an active component. It is available in three doses: 250mg, 500mg, and 750mg in tablet form. For minor bacterial infections, a smaller dosage of 250mg is frequently suggested. The 500mg dosage is typically used for infectious diarrhoea and other severe UTIs.
Ciplox 750mg is used for serious upper urinary tract infections involving the kidneys (such as pyelonephritis) and other serious bacterial infections.

The exact instructions to take Ciplox 500 will be provided by your doctor. It may be taken with or without meals, although it's normally best to take it at the same time(s) every day to help you remember to take it regularly.
To avoid interactions, take antacids or calcium, magnesium, or aluminium supplements at least two to six hours before or after you take Ciplox 500.
Typically, antibiotics like Ciplox 500 might start to treat your symptoms within the first 24 to 72 hours of taking them. However, the exact time it takes to work may depend on the severity of the bacterial infection causing your diarrhea.
Even if you start to feel better, always make sure you finish the entire course as instructed by your doctor so as to avoid antibiotic resistance and the risk of reinfection.
Because it is generally a short-term treatment of 3-7 days, sticking to the dose regimen is easier than with other long-term therapies that may require you to take diarrhea medicine for two weeks or more.
If you forget to take Ciplox 500, make sure to do it as soon as you recall. Skip the dose if it is almost time for your next one. Contact your doctor if you miss more than two doses as you may need to restart your treatment. As with other antibiotics, complete the entire course, even if you begin to feel better to avoid the risk of reinfection.
