What is Imiquad?

Imiquad cream contains the active ingredient imiquimod, which stimulates the immune system to produce interferon and other chemicals that help fight against the HPV virus. This immune response helps to eliminate genital warts.

Imiquad should be applied in a thin layer and gently rubbed into the warts until the cream is no longer visible. It is best to follow doctor's instructions when using Imiquad.

How does Imiquad work?

The imiquimod in Imiquad cream activates certain immune cells in the skin, such as dendritic cells and macrophages. These cells play a crucial role in recognizing and attacking pathogens like viruses.

The immune response generated by Imiquad cream helps to eliminate the HPV-infected cells that form genital warts. Over time, the body's immune system targets and destroys the infected cells, leading to the clearance of the warts.

What doses of Imiquad are there?

Imiquad cream comes in a pack that contains 3 sachets. Each sachet contains a strength of 0.25 mg of Imiquimod. When and for how long you use Imiquad will depend on the severity of your symptoms and a medical assessment by your doctor.

How to use Imiquad

You should apply Imiquad exactly as instructed by your doctor.

But here are a few general guidelines you should follow:

• Before applying the cream, wash the infected area with a mild cleanser and pat it dry with a clean towel.
• Squeeze only a small amount of cream onto your fingers and apply a thin layer only to the affected area. You should try not to apply Imiquad to any healthy areas.
• Rub the cream on the affected area gently until it is no longer visible.
• After applying the cream, avoid sexual contact as it may cause irritation to your partner.

How long does it take for Imiquad to work?

The duration of treatment with Imiquad cream can vary from person to person. While some people may start seeing improvement within a few weeks, for others, treatment may last up to 16 weeks.

It is important to tell your doctor about your progress while you are using Imiquad. They may change your dose, or even recommend a different treatment in case there is no sign of improvement after a couple of weeks.

What should I do if I make a mistake when using Imiquad?

If you accidentally apply more than the recommended dosage, it is best to wipe the extra cream with a clean damp cloth or tissue.

If you notice any adverse side effects like rashes, itching or a burning sensation, contact your doctor immediately and inform them of the symptoms you are experiencing.
