Nicip is a type of pain-relieving medicine that contains the active ingredient nimesulide. It's an anti-inflammatory drug that works by targeting COX-2 (cyclooxygenase-2) enzymes. When you have an injury, or inflammation from something like gout, COX-2 produces prostaglandins, which play a role in causing inflammation. And inflammation is often where pain and discomfort come from.
Nicip tablets are used to treat acute pain usually associated with menstruation, osteoarthritis, and muscle or joint pains. It is only prescribed for gout under special circumstances; so you should have a chat with your doctor before taking Nicip.
Nicip works by targeting an enzyme in the body called cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2). This enzyme plays a role in producing chemicals called prostaglandins. When you have an injury or inflammation, COX-2 gets busy making prostaglandins, which can lead to pain and discomfort.
Nicip, being a COX-2 selective medication, specifically blocks the action of the COX-2 enzyme. By doing so, it reduces the production of prostaglandins, which helps to decrease inflammation and pain. In simpler terms, Nimesulide acts like a "quieting" agent for the enzyme responsible for creating pain-inducing chemicals, providing relief from various types of pain, such as those from menstrual cramps and osteoarthritis.
Nicip comes in two doses of 100mg and 200mg of nimesulide. The higher dose is usually prescribed in cases where the pain is more profound. Your doctor could prescribe Nicip 200mg in case of an acute gout attack. They may prescribe a lower dose if they feel like it suits you better.

Nicip should be taken orally with a glass of water, preferably at the same time every day. For adults, the suggested dose is 100 mg taken twice a day, for no longer than 15 days. It's generally not advised for long-term use, and using nimesulide is not recommended for children.
A study found that Nicip (nimesulide) worked faster (in less than 15 minutes) and was considered stronger (according to what the patients thought) than ibuprofen.
Although Nicip is known to provide rapid pain relief, this may differ from person to person. So it might take a while till you start to feel better.
Follow your doctor’s prescription exactly when taking Nicip. Take it at the same time every day to maintain a consistent level of the medicine in your system. If you accidentally take more than the recommended dosage, contact your doctor immediately.
