Darilong tablets are prescribed to address symptoms associated with an overactive bladder, a condition often leading to urinary incontinence. These tablets contain darifenacin as the active ingredient and fall under the category of antimuscarinics, a type of anticholinergic medication.
An overactive bladder (OAB) isn't a specific disease but a set of urinary symptoms. One of the most common symptoms is experiencing sudden, frequent, and uncontrollable urges to go to the bathroom to pass urine. If this urge leads to unintentional urine leakage, it's referred to as urinary incontinence.
Darilong works by stopping the bladder muscles from squeezing too much, which helps control the urge to urinate. Darilong and other anticholinergics suppress the activity of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter found in the bladder. Acetylcholine is a neurotransmitter that contracts the bladder muscles.
By blocking its action on specific receptors in the bladder called M2 and M3 muscarinic receptors, anticholinergic agents prevent these involuntary muscle contractions. This helps to relax the bladder muscle and reduce the sudden, urgent need to urinate that is one of the main symptoms of an overactive bladder.
Darilong tablets come in two doses: 7.5 mg and 15 mg. You'll normally start with Darilong 7.5 mg tablets and only shift to 15 mg if your doctor says so. Taking the lowest dose of Darilong that keeps your bladder under control helps to minimize the likelihood of adverse effects.

Darilong should be taken exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Take one pill of the dosage prescribed by your doctor, once a day, along with a glass of water. Darilong can be taken with or without food, depending on what works best for you. Just make sure not to crush or chew the tablet while taking it.
Darilong is most active in your bloodstream three to eight hours after taking the medication.[Popover id=ref4] However, to keep your symptoms under control, you will need to take Darilong on a long-term basis. It might take up to four weeks to get the full results.[Popover id=ref5]
If you accidentally skip taking a Darilong dose, simply take the missed dosage as soon as you recall. The only exception is if it's almost time for your next dosage; in that instance, simply skip the missed dose and resume as usual with your next dose.
If you unintentionally take too much Darilong, call your doctor right away. You may experience symptoms like dry mouth, dizziness, drowsiness, blurred vision, hallucinations, overexcitement, seizures, and difficulty breathing. Increased heart rate and dilated pupils are other symptoms you may experience.
