Yamini is a combination pill that is proven to be highly effective at preventing pregnancy. It contains the combination of two hormones— drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol.

Yamini is a 21-day combined oral contraceptive pill (COCP). The two hormones present in the pill are drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol. While ethinyl estradiol is a synthetic form of the hormone estrogen, drospirenone is a synthetic progesterone.
Together, the hormones in the pill prevent the release of an egg, significantly reduce the likelihood of sperm fertilising an egg, and also lower the chances of egg implantation. You are supposed to take one pill for 21 days followed by a 7 day pill-free break.
The pill contains lab made versions of two naturally occurring hormones in the female body—progesterone and estrogen. During a menstrual cycle, these hormone levels keep fluctuating, causing the release of an egg and triggering other responses that prepare the body for pregnancy.
The hormones in Yamini control these hormonal fluctuations to prevent the egg from being released in the body and also stopping the uterine lining from getting thicker. So even if an egg does get fertilized, it will not have favorable conditions to attach itself and grow.

Yamini must be taken every day at the same time. Take it as soon as you get up or during a meal that you eat at the same time every day to develop the habit of doing this. You can take Yamini either with or without food.
21 tablets come within each pill pack. You are supposed to take them at the same time everyday for 21 days and then go on a pill-free break for 7 days. You begin a new pack on the 5th to 7th day of your period.
If you miss a single dose and it’s been less than a day since you missed your last one, you must take it as soon as you remember (even if this means taking 2 pills at the same time).
If it has been more than 24 hours since you took the last pill, your protection could be compromised and you must use a backup contraception like condoms for the next 7 days.
If you’ve missed the dose and don’t experience any bleeding in your 7 day pill-free break, you should contact your doctor immediately as you could be pregnant.
Yamini and other combined birth control tablets are more than 99% effective when used as directed. Meaning, less than one pregnancy will occur per 100 women using Yamini over a year. This makes it one of the most successful birth control options.
Effectiveness drops to about 92% with "normal" use, which accounts for occasionally forgetting a pill. In other words, for women that occasionally forgot to take Yamini on time or at all, eight out of every 100 became pregnant.
