The active ingredient in Dutas is dutasteride. Dutasteride is a type of medication called a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor. It works by limiting the effects of the 5-alpha reductase enzyme, which converts testosterone into DHT.
If you have too much DHT in your body, it can cause male pattern hair loss. So Dutas treats hair fall by managing the production of testosterone in the body.

There is only one dose of Dutas treatment usually recommended. You take one 0.5mg capsule once a day. In a 2017 study, a small group of 90 men took Dutasteride over a six month period to test its efficiency against hair loss. All men suffered from androgenetic alopecia. Results showed that the hairs on a man's head per square cm increased by 23 on average after 24 weeks of use. The same study also showed that it reduced hair thinning, which is a sign of hair loss.
