The active ingredient in Candid-V gel is clotrimazole. Clotrimazole is an antifungal medication used to treat thrush and other fungal infections. You use the gel a few times a day to help clear thrush symptoms like itching and irritation. It’s often used on its own, but in some cases your doctor may also prescribe a vaginal pill like Candid V-3 alongside it to help treat the infection and avoid additional thrush flare-ups. Male partners can apply the gel to their penis as well.
The most common cause of vaginal thrush is the candida fungus, and the most common symptoms are burning, itching, redness, inflammation, and discharge. Clotrimazole destroys the yeast that is causing your symptoms and restores your vagina’s natural pH balance.
Clotrimazole, the active ingredient in Candid-V gel, is an antifungal therapy belonging to the ‘azole’ family of medicines. These medicines are typically used to treat yeast and fungi-caused skin illnesses such as athlete's foot, ringworm, fungal nail, infected diaper rash, and vaginal thrush.
Clotrimazole works by destroying the cell membrane barriers of the fungi and suppressing the production of ergosterol by cells. Ergosterol is needed for fungal development and growth, and to maintain the integrity of the yeast cell membranes. Candid-V gel helps prevent reinfection by easing thrush symptoms and killing the fungus that causes it.
Candid-V gel comes in a concentration of 2% w/w of clotrimazole, in a 30g tube with an attached nozzle for easy application. The amount you use each day is dependent on your condition and doctor’s instructions.

Candid-V gel works quickly, starting to fight your fungal infection and relieve your symptoms immediately. 88% of those who used Candid-V gel saw symptom improvement on the first day of using it.
Your symptoms should go away within three days of using Candid-V gel. Speak with your doctor if you haven't noticed any improvement after seven days. If the infection returns after seven days, you can use Candid-V gel again. If the infection happens twice in six months, you should consult your doctor.
Don't be concerned if you apply more Candid-V gel than you should. A single extra dosage is rarely known to cause problems. If you or anybody else accidentally consumes Candid-V gel, speak to a doctor at once. You may feel dizzy, nauseated and require medical attention.
