What is Storvas EZ?
Storvas EZ is a combination treatment for high cholesterol. It contains two active ingredients called atorvastatin and ezetimibe. It’s usually prescribed when taking one of the active ingredients alone hasn’t been effective at lowering cholesterol levels or if there’s a higher risk of complications. It’s also helpful in reducing the risk of blood clots and heart attack.
A doctor will advise you about how to take Storvas EZ, but it’s commonly taken with or without food and at evenly spaced time intervals. The amount of time that you take it will depend on your cholesterol levels and how far they need to be reduced.
As you take your treatment, you will need to closely monitor your cholesterol levels and this information will help your doctor to make changes to your dose and treatment to ensure that it’s working for you.
Storvas EZ is a branded medication and is also sold as Dysliptin EZ, Lipivas EZ, Ostat-EZ, Orvas-EZ and Aztor EZ. These medications all work in the same way but the pills and packaging of each may differ in appearance due to branding.
How does Storvas EZ work?
Your body needs a certain amount of good cholesterol to help with the production of bile. The cholesterol that’s needed for this is produced in the liver. Eating an excess of fatty foods and living a sedentary lifestyle can cause bad cholesterol to build up in the body. This bad cholesterol can block the flow of blood around the body as well as contributing to the formation of blood clots. These obstruct the work of the heart and make heart attacks and strokes more likely to occur.
Atorvastatin, one of the active ingredients in Storvas EZ, belongs to a group of medicines called statins. It reduces the amount of cholesterol that’s produced by the liver. In doing this it causes the body to take the cholesterol from your blood to make bile with. This helps to reduce the amount of the cholesterol in the blood and reduces the risk of clots and heart attack from occurring.
Ezetimibe, the other active ingredient found in Storvas EZ, works on the cholesterol that you eat. It prevents the cholesterol from being absorbed in the intestine and therefore, prevents it from entering the blood.
When these two powerful ingredients combine in Storvas EZ, they create a treatment that not only removes cholesterol from the blood but also prevents more from entering it.
Storvas EZ is most effective when combined with a healthy diet and active lifestyle.
What doses of Storvas EZ are there?
Storvas EZ comes in two dosage sizes, with each tablet containing the following amounts of the active ingredients:
Storvas EZ 10 which contains Atorvastatin (10mg) and Ezetimibe (10mg)
Storvas EZ 20 which contains Atorvastatin (20mg) and Ezetimibe (10mg)
After talking to you about your health, medical history and symptoms, as well as testing your blood cholesterol levels, your doctor will be able to advise you about the best dose for you to start with. As you take your treatment your response and blood cholesterol levels will be monitored and this will allow your doctor to make any changes to the dose that are needed to make sure that it’s working for you. If you find that Storvas EZ doesn’t work in the way you want it to, or that it doesn't suit you, your doctor will be able to explore other treatment options with you.
